THE AMALFI COAST

Probably of Greek origins, Sorrento was
conquered by the Romans in 89 BC.
During the Imperial age, it was a famous resort,
where Augustus and his court went regularly.
It is rich in important historical and artistic monuments,
as the ruins of many Greek and Roman villas.

From Sorrento, you can take a winding road towards one of the
most suggestive Italian landscapes, the Amalfi Coast, famous for
its wonderful beaches and delicious food.

Among the cities of the coast, there is Positano, a seaside resort high above the sea;
the wonderful Praiano; Amalfi, the biggest city of the coast, whose millenary cathedral
stands high up above a staircase; Ravello, with the magnificent gardens of Villa
Cimbrone and Villa Rufolo.
